Adolphe saxophones were imported into the UK during the mid 20's and early 30's by Selmer London . This particular saxophone is from 1926/28 and pre Selmer Cigar Cutter era .Very similar to the Selmer model 28 accept it does not have the 'SSS' (Selmer Super Sax) on the bell and the Selmer name. Selmer acquired the Adolphe factory during the 20's and marketed the saxophones under their own name but continued manufacuting and supplying under the original Adaolphe name untill the early thirties.This sax plays very free and has a great sound.
