G. Leblanc Paris
Alto Saxophone ( Rare Vintage 50’s )
This is an Alto
Saxophone that was only made from 1950-1953 in Paris, France. Its “1/2 brother”
is the “Selmer Mark 6”. This horn has amazing tone and craftsmanship. It has
its original lacquer finish and neck. The horn recently had its pads replaced
and is in excellent playing condition. There are no significant dents or dings
on the horn, however the previous owner’s name is lightly engraved on the back
(as pictured).
This horn was
made under the supervision of Leon Leblanc. He was the only instrument-maker
businessman who was also a gifted clarinetist and holder of the coveted first
prize of the Paris Conservatoire of Music. He combined his talents and
sensitivities that he developed as a musician with his skills as an instrument
maker. Leon Leblanc paid special attention to the detail of the Selmer Paris
Mark VI alto saxophone and was known to consult with the instrument makers of
the “Selmer Paris” manufacturing facility. Leon Leblanc dedicated his research
to finding the delicate balance of hand craftsmanship and machine tooling that
produces instruments of unsurpassed quality. Leon’s father “George Leblanc” was
also a master French instrument maker and taught Leon along with the late
master acoustician “Charles Houvenaghel”.
This very rare
alto saxophone was made in Paris at the peak of Leon Leblanc’s career and has
that warmth and sound quality sought after by professional players. Don’t let
this vintage horn slip thru your fingers because it is an alto players dream.
This horn is a true collectors piece. Included are: sax, neck, mouthpiece,
ligature, mouthpiece cover and neckstrap with a thick padded soft case. 90000-311532
