Yanagisawa 9937 Alto sax
No Reserve
NEW Yanagisawa 9937 solid-silver alto saxophone
The 9937 alto by Yanagisawa is considered by many to be the
finest alto-saxophone ever produced. It is, unfortunately, also the
most expensive alto ever produced, due to the unparalleled attention to
detail and the extensive engraving lavished upon each one of these
limited-edition masterpieces. In addition, each 9937 has its bell, bow, and body crafted of pure solid silver.
What makes the 9937 truly remarkable is that its exquisite beauty is
matched by its unparalleled tonal quality and performance
characteristics. The 9937 resonates freely and smoothly, due to the
benefits of silver, and with an impeccably even scale and accurate
pitch.
This horn is new, and is absolutely gorgeous, as we hope the
following pictures will show. The list price for 9937 altos is around
$12,000, with a typical retail price of around $6k - $7k. We have never
encountered a better-playing alto, from any manufacturer (including Keilwerth, Guardala,
Yamaha, and Selmer models--even the new Reference and older Series
II/III + Mk. VI models). We are offering this horn on eBay for the
discriminating player or serious collector. This rare 9937 comes with
Yanagisawa's Dark alto neck (Yanagisawa Model 65), which is based on a
unique geometry that differs from the standard neck to provide a richer
tone. In addition, we are able to offer a significant discount from the
distributor due to a cosmetic flaw near one edge of the bell's flare
(as indicated by the yellow arrow in the picture below).
The 9937 will be delivered in its new Yanagisawa hard case, with
all original new accessories: Yanagisawa mouthpiece (w/ brass ligature
and cap), Yanagisawa neck-strap, Yanagisawa cork grease, and case keys.
We will "triple-pack" the horn for shipping. The cushioned
Yanagisawa hard-case is surrounded by foam inserts in the original
Yanagisawa cardboard carton (direct from the distributor), and that
shipping carton will be surrounded by thick layers of foam peanuts in
another (very large) outer carton. This method of shipment provides the
ultimate protection for the horn, with three different surrounding
layers of protection and packaging, ensuring that the saxophone will be
safe in transit.
In summary, this is easily the most exquisite saxophone we have
had the pleasure of stocking and offering on eBay. And, personally, I
have never found another alto that can match the 9937. So, good luck
with your bidding. This is a No Reserve auction. If you are not using
Buy-It-Now for your purchase, then please beware of last-minute
"snipers".
Only USA shipping destinations only! No other locations are accepted (case in point: our prior auction was ended by a bidder from Europe; since we do not ship overseas for such a large item, that bid was void and we are re-listing the auction). Also, we do not accept bidders with significant negative feedback, so if your eBay record is questionable, please contact us.
Terms and Conditions of Auction
We accept the following forms of payment: Money Order/Check, or PayPal. Payment should be made within 3 days of the auction close. Only USA lower 48 states shipping destinations only! No other locations are accepted, so please do not bid if you live elsewhere.
FedEx Ground shipping cost is $44.95.
(This shipping cost is higher than our typical cost for alto
saxophones, because we are triple-packing this horn, which requires a
very large outermost carton. In addition, we will insure for $5995 with
FedEx.)
Upon receipt of funds, we'll
ship your carefully packed order within 24hrs. Depending upon your
location relative to Oregon, FedEx Ground will typically require 1-5
additional business days to deliver the package.
We value your satisfaction, and
we strive to satisfy all winning bidders. If you have any questions or
