Rare Couesnon Paris Alto Saxophone - Nice!! Couesnon has been in business producing fine instruments in France since 1827. Reknown for their fluglehorns and marching pieces their primary entry into the US was during the 50?s-70?s when I believe they where imported by Gretch. In the early 60?s they produced a series of very high quality instruments called Monopole Conservatories. This fine piece is an Alto Saxophone from this line. It is marked COUESNON - Paris on the side of the bell and MADE IN FRANCE on the main body just above the rear bow ring. I am not a Sax player but recognize the points of construction that show its quality. It has rolled tone holes, rolled bell lip, fancy body rings, well formed keys and ?nicer? key action ( especially on the bell and bow sections ) than most saxes. It is in very nice condition as follows: There are a couple small dings but otherwise it is extra nice with a well formed bell and lip. The bow guard is undamaged though my best guess is it was dis assembled in the past and the bow was repaired. I see solder at the rings and at several guard posts.( I will provide a number of pics ) All pearls and rollers are present. There is wear on several finger points but no corrosion anywhere ( or pot marked metal ). I believe the pads are metal tone boosters and they are in good condition. There is also evidence of a solder repair on the G#?? key. The neck is original and perfect. Whoever did the original repair did good work - this is a nice horn... Includes a Brillhart Ebolin mouthpiece, strap, and a vintage Beuscher hardcase in good condition. . *****PLEASE***** This is meant to be a fun yet professional forum for trade among responsible adults.
