Description
Conn Contrabass Eb L.P. Model V278 sarrusaphone. This is a very rare Contrabass sarrosophone that comes from the saxophone family. Pat. Date Dec. 8, 1914. It is my understanding that Conn only made approximately 200 of these between 1914 - 1921. I have solid information that this horn was played in a Municipal Band in Waterloo, Iowa by its original owner until his death in the 1930's. At that time it was passed down through the family until the early 40's. It then was stored in the attic of a family member where it laid for almost 60 years until his estate was settled. Is in its original vintage condition as the day it was stored away in the attic. Will need pads and checked over. Has two very small shallow dents and a couple small dings. Has one wear spot in the silver plating which can be seen in the pictures. This horn is original and complete. Has the nice gold wash to the inner bell. Comes with the Bocal, original music lyre and has the old original double reed in the case (but is brittle and unuseable). Has the original double hook neckstrap and the original double handle Conn case which is in good condition but shows wear (all latches and hinges work fine). This Contrabass stands 4' tall.
